I was born and raised in Japan, but I decided to attend a high school in Southern California when I was 15. Not being able to speak English at all, I was scared at first, but I enjoyed studying in U.S. so much and decided to go to college in Bay Area. After earning a bachelor's degree in accounting, I worked in high-tech industry for almost 10 years while working on the second degree in computer information system.

I graduated from Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin (AOMA) in 2007, and I also received Tuina bodywork training under the guidance of Dr. Fan at AOMA. I am licensed to practice acupuncture in Texas since 2008 and is certified to practice Tuina by American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA).

I was first introduced to acupuncture when I was 12. I woke up one day and felt strange pain in my neck and upper back. It never went away, and it got worse fast. My mother took me to see many specialists, but none gave me long-term relief. Finally she heard about an acupuncturist in Kobe, and she drove 2 hours each way for me. My neck pain was gone after a couple of treatments. Thanks, mom.

Today, I have the luxury of treating myself with acupuncture whenever I feel the stiffness coming, and I’ve also treated my own tennis elbow successfully. It's good to be an acupuncturist ;)

Volunteer
I currently volunteer for 2 organizations that I care:

  • Town Lake Animal Center (TLAC) - providing cares for adoptable dogs
  • The Wright House Wellness Center - providing acupuncture treatments for people with chronic illnesses

  • We are always in need of more volunteers and donations at both organizations. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email to TLAC.volunteers@ci.austin.tx.us for TLAC and Mark@thewrighthouse.org for The Wright House.
