Are Chinese herbs safe?

We use high-grade non-sulfured (whenever possible) herbs in our herbal treatment, and they are good manufacturing practice (GMP) certified. Herbs have a balancing or regulating effect on the body and are gentler than pharmaceutical drugs.

Do they have side effects?

Side effects from herbs are possible, but they are usually minor. The most common problems may include gas and bloating due to difficulty digesting the herb. If this or any other problem occurs, discuss it with your practitioner to change your formula. We keep up to date on any possible herb/drug interactions.

How are herbs administered?

We carry 3 forms of herbs at the clinic:

1) Teapill/Tablet: It is convenient and easiest to swallow. Its effect tends to be mild, and its content can’t be modified as it is manufactured at the factory. It is often used to treat general conditions.

2) Extracted Powder: It is dissolved in warm water before swallowing, and its taste may be less pleasant than teapills. Effect is stronger, and it can be tailored based on your conditions and needs.

3) Grounded Raw: **Due to space limitation, raw herbs are not stored at the clinic, and pickup needs to be arranged** It requires cooking (usually around 10 minutes), and you take the decoction. It has the strongest effect, but its taste is also the strongest.
